It excels at playing CDs, SACDs, and high-resolution music stored on computer-burned discs, while also functioning as a high-end digital-to-analogue converter for computer audio. The heart of the SA10-S1 is the custom SACD-M3 transport mechanism, engineered exclusively for accurate, real-time retrieval of audio data from discs. This ensures flawless playback of SACD, CD, and DVD-ROM discs containing FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, MP3, and DSD64/128 files, allowing easy creation and playback of hi-res audio compilations. Beyond disc playback, the SA10-S1 offers optical, coaxial, and USB-B asynchronous digital inputs. It supports PCM and DXD files up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD64/128/256, making it fully compatible with current and emerging high-resolution audio formats. The digital inputs are fully isolated to prevent electrical noise from affecting sound quality. Marantz Musical Mastering Technology The SA10-S1 employs Marantz Musical Mastering (MMM) technology, which upconverts all PCM and DXD inputs to DSD at 11.2MHz using the proprietary MMM-Stream converter. The MMM-Conversion stage replaces conventional DACs, producing analogue output with exceptional clarity and musicality. This process uses dual system clocks for precise upconversion and 32-bit floating-point digital signal processing for superior accuracy. The 1-bit Sigma Delta Modulation output is filtered by high-quality low-pass filters before reaching the analogue stage, which utilises dual-differential Marantz HDAM modules for optimal sound quality. The headphone amplifier is built with discrete components, ensuring premium audio performance for private listening. Build Quality The SA10-S1 features a double-layered copper-plated chassis and thick non-magnetic aluminium panels with a 5mm top lid to minimise mechanical and electrical interference. It rests on aluminium die-cast feet for stability and vibration reduction, matching the build quality of the Marantz PM-10 integrated amplifier.
