Product Overview The DALI Opticon 1 is a compact stand-mount loudspeaker designed for close placement or wall mounting. It features a rear-mounted bass port, a 4¾ inch low-loss Wood Fibre woofer, a 26 mm ultra-light Soft Dome tweeter, and gold-plated terminals. This combination delivers balanced, detailed midrange and impressively tight bass that belies its size. Legacy and Design The Opticon 1 shares the low-loss Wood Fibre woofer found in DALI's flagship EPICON series, combined with the unique SMC magnet motor system and a newly developed Soft Dome tweeter. Together with an individual bass reflex port, these elements reproduce audio exactly as the recording artist intended. SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) SMC is a coated magnet granule optimising the woofer's magnet motor system. It significantly reduces distortion caused by mechanical loss, lowering colouration and improving sound clarity. The woofer magnet motor's pole piece is made entirely of SMC, enhancing overall audio performance. Soft Dome Tweeter The new Soft Dome tweeter features low resonance frequency, high power handling, and exceptional headroom for high sound pressure levels. It operates smoothly beyond 20 kHz without crossover roll-off and incorporates ultra-thin magnetic fluid for cooling and precise coil control, ensuring clear, detailed highs. Woofer Design The woofer cone is made from a paper and wood fibre pulp mix for low surface resonance, surrounded by a soft rubber surround for flexible movement. The aluminium chassis minimises interference with the magnetic field. The magnet motor includes a large ferrite magnet and an SMC pole piece, providing an optimal environment for the voice coil to deliver undistorted, natural sound reproduction.
